2nd February 2010

Dear Parents / Carers

I would like to think that the worst of the snowy weather is now behind us but I recall that last year’s heavy snowfall occurred in February.  The media would have us believe that schools close at the sign of the first snowflake but I want to reassure you that, for us, it is the last resort and a decision that we do not take lightly.   Please remember to let us know if you change your mobile number so that we can update the groupcall database.

I have attached an outline Diary for the remainder of this term.  Further details of these events will be available nearer the time.

Last term

Last term ended very suddenly for us and we were sorry to have not held the End of Term Assembly.. However, I hope that you all enjoyed our Christmas performances.  We were very proud of the children’s performance and their customary enthusiasm.

We would like to thank the parents who came into school to help with the Christmas Craft Sale.  These events are very important aspects of our school year and we really do appreciate the support that parents provide.

Parent Support Advisor

Our Parent Support, Advisor, Elaina Arneaud, will be holding a coffee morning in Church after our class assembly on 10th February, during which she will provide details of any services families may wish to use.  This will be followed up by a discussion session at a later date.  Elaina is a very approachable helpful colleague and I hope that you will find these sessions helpful.

Headlice

A case of headlice has recently been reported in school.  Please check your child’s hair on a regular basis, treating as necessary and ensure all long hair is tied back in school.

Earthquake Appeal

Many thanks for your very generous contributions to the Haiti Earthquake appeal.  We have sent a cheque to the Save the Children Fund.

Yours sincerely

Mary Harris
