Our Shared Vision
Creating confident, caring, open minds
At Milton Ernest School we believe that education enriches people’s lives and aspirations. We value everyone and strive for all to reach their potential. We aim to create a secure, inclusive and challenging learning environment that nurtures a life-long love of learning - through discovery, creativity, physical activity and problem solving.
We work in partnership with parents, All Saints Church, the local community and fellow professionals to build our children’s social, physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and ethical skills.
Respect for each other and everything around us is at the heart of all we do. As a Church of England school, Christian faith is central to our school’s ways of learning and living – this also ensures our children understand and respect other faiths, beliefs and cultures – and that they celebrate diversity and have no fear of difference. |
Milton Ernest School is a voluntary controlled lower school. This means that although the school is owned by the Church of England, it is financed by the Bedfordshire Local Education Authority.
The school is located in the centre of the village, close to All Saints Church and the village green. There are two gardens; an environmental area, with a pond, which is used during lesson time and an area with a “trim trail” which is used at break times and for physical education lessons. We use the village green for sports in the summer months and we have a learners’ swimming pool that is used in the summer term.
The Victorian building, dating from 1871, replaced the old Dame School that can still be seen adjoining the village green. The school, a two-storey building, has undergone an extensive building and refurbishment programme. The Reception, Year 1 and 2 classrooms, cloakrooms and administration area are situated on the ground floor and the Year 3/4 classroom and library/assembly area are on the first floor. The village hall is used for lunch and for physical education lessons.
